WILD AND BEACH KENYA SAFARI EXPERIENCE!

Day 1: Nairobi- Amboseli

Early morning pick-up from your hotel, briefing by a representative from Abana Safaris and depart on your Kenya Safari southwards to Amboseli National Park, famous for being the best place in Africa to see free-ranging elephants. The park also has a spectacular view of the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro (weather permitting). Arrive at your pre-booked Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Have lunch; check in and rest. At 1600hrs enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Safari Lodge or similar.

 Day 2: Amboseli

Full Day in Amboseli with game drives early in the morning and in the evening. Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, is one of Kenya’s most popular national parks. It lies 150 miles south-east of Nairobi, very close to the Tanzania border. The snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds dominates every aspect of Amboseli. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Safari Lodge or similar.

Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West

After breakfast, drive towards Tsavo national park. Check in the lodge have lunch and relax. Later proceed for an afternoon games drive looking for animals in the park. The northern part of Tsavo West is fascinating geologically: the whole developed area is dotted with old and new volcanic hills, ranging from pimples to great pyramids on the plain.

The most iconic attraction in the park is Mzima Springs. The crystal-clear water of this chain of lakes is filtered through the volcanic rocks of the Chyulu Hills just to the north. Shaded by majestic fig and acacia trees, the lakes swarm with fish, large crocodiles and some big pods of hippos. You can leave your vehicle and follow a pretty nature trail, though you need to keep an eye out for large animals, especially early in the morning or before dusk. If you’re lucky, the underwater viewing chamber, accessed by a pier, can provide unique photo opportunities – of a sinuous, gliding crocodile, or the delicate, tiptoe swimming. Dinner and overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge or similar.

Day 4: Tsavo West

After breakfast embark on a full day game viewing drive in search of the wildlife not seen the previous day. Later in the afternoon you proceed to the Shetani Lava Flow, the largest whole series of lava flows in the park, with several places where you can get out of your vehicle and stretch your legs, including a series of lava caves below the surface. These caves used to be notorious for trapping prey animals that had stumbled inside in search of water, and then trapping predators that had followed them. At one time there was even a series of plaques identifying the bones on the cave floor. Over the last couple of decades the presence of visitors has gradually put off the wildlife from entering but the caves, and the all the lava flows still have a slightly spooky atmosphere, the Shetani Lava Flow is named after the Swahili for devil or malevolent ghost.  Dinner and overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge or similar.

Day 5: Tsavo West – Mombasa

After breakfast at around 8.30 am check out from the lodge then enjoy the last game drive en route driving to Mombasa. Arrive at your pre-booked resort in time for lunch.
