You will be picked up and drive to Lake Elementaita. Travel west through Kenya’s fertile highlands, where tea and coffee abound, and suddenly, to your left, the trees part to reveal a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley, with dormant volcano Longonot at centre stage. Drive through and arrive at your lodge in time for check in and lunch. After lunch, proceed for an afternoon game drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Return to the hotel for dinner and the night. After breakfast check out and drive along the Great Rift Valley to Kenya’s best known game reserve; Maasai Mara arriving in time for check in and lunch. After lunch get introduced to the herbivores, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the variety of antelopes, the Maasai giraffe and the Burchells zebra. The carnivores are the black mane lion, cheetah and leopard. Also to be seen are the hunting dog, the jackal and hyena; the largest bird, the Maasai ostrich, the Secretary bird, the crested crane and saddle-bill stork. Flocks of small birds fly around and settle on the rhino and elephant. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. Return to your lodge by sunset. Meals and overnight at Ol Moran Camp (FB)
Set off for an early morning game viewing drive and exploring in this Kenya’s finest reserve. Return to the lodge for rest and leisure in the early morning and afternoon. Lunch in the lodge then later in the evening proceed for the late evening game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You’re likely to see a lion, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopard and many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It’s in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Breakfast at the camp and thereafter drive back to Nairobi. Leave Maasai Mara and head back to Narok, district headquarters of this part of Maasailand and then travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the Rift escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city in the afternoon and be transferred to the airport for your homebound flight.
