Highlights include Mombasa’s historic Mashimoni caves, Fort Jesus, and Old Town, along with Ribe, the first mission station established in 1884, where participants can experience the mission house overlooking Mombasa Bay and learn about local church history. The journey also features time to relax at Milele Beach Hotel and reflect by the ocean. Additional stops include Meru and Nanyuki for cultural enrichment and local engagement, as well as Tsavo West National Park for thrilling wildlife encounters, scenic spots like Mzima Springs and Shetani lava flows, and the unique “red elephants.”
Arrive Mombasa and be transferred to Milele Beach Hotel
This day after breakfast you will travel South to Mashimoni where the slaves were carried away with a short walk to the cave of adventure and afterwards return to the old town for lunch exploring the Swahili town of Mombasa with a visit to the Fort Jesus. Overnight Milele beach Hotel
Breakfast. Travel to Ribe the first mission station established in 1884 by the United Methodist Free Church from Britain and enjoy the mission house overlooking Mombasa Bay, palm and bougainvillea trees, coupled with a visit to the old grave site to meet local church workers.
Day of rest relaxation and reflection enjoying the beach or swimming at the hotel or ocean. Overnight Milele Beach
Drive to Tsavo West National Park to arrive at the logde in time for Lunch. Afternoon game drive visiting the most scenic sites in the park like Mzima Springs and Shetani Lava Flows coupled with wildlife. Tsavo is famed for the “red elephants” which acquire their colour through wallowing in the red clay soil. Overnight Tsavo West national Park
Day 6 – Tsavo
The whole day at Tsavo with game drives and meals at the lodge.
Day 7 – Meru – Thiiri Centre
Heavy breakfast for a start of a long journey to Meru with brief stops on the way. Dinner and overnight at Thiiri Centre
Day 8 – Thiiri Centre
Wake up to the green surrounding of Meru – Thiiri Centre, a centre built by Bishop Imathiu and Marylyn brenchly to promote culture, music and community development in the area. After breakfast visit the Old Kaaga which habours the homes of the early missionaries and the myths and legends of the witch doctors of Kaaga.
Explore and experience outreach of the early church as you travel to the Maua Methodist hospital one of the leading missionary started hospital that was started way back on 1932. Return to Thiiri Cultural Centre for dinner and overnight
Day 10
Worship in a local church and after a meeting with the church leaders and the youth for a cultural exchange and learn how things are done and share experiences.
Day 11
Visit the orphanages, clinics, HIV Aids programmes that are run by the local churches later return to Thiiri Centre for a dance programme with Thiiri dancers and band.
Day 12 – Nanyuki
Drive to Dodo Mission outside Nanyuki Town to experience outreach among the normadic tribe Maasai. Overnight in Nanyuki
Day 13 – Nairobi – Departure
Return to Nairobi for last minute shopping. Evening transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
