met by Abana Safaris representatives and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Mauritius City Tour
You will enjoy breakfast at the hotel then proceed to tour Port Louis, the capital city. Your first stop will be at
the Blue Penny Museum, here you will take a step back into the era of great maritime explorations in the Indian
Ocean before moving on to an overview of the three colonial periods in the history of Mauritius. What unfolds
next is the tale of the history of postal services, namely with the very first postage stamps to be issued in
Mauritius, the world-renowned Post Office stamps. The tour of the museum ends with the beautiful yet tragic
story of a mythical couple, Paul and Virginie. Later on you will visit the National History Museum. This
museum contains some fascinating artifacts, including early maps of the island and paintings of Mauritius’
original fauna – including, the extinct dodo bird. There are also a few dodo bones in a glass case, along with
those of other disappeared species such as the red rail and Rodrigues solitaire. One real curio is an engraving of
Dutch gentlemen riding in pairs on the back of a giant tortoise, a species that also went the way of the dodo.
Afterwards you will take a walk at the Caudan waterfront. Le Caudan Waterfront offers a unique shopping,
leisure and work hub, in the capital, on the water’s edge. Here you will enjoy some Mauritian cuisine at the
floating boat restaurant as you enjoy the breeze from the habour. After lunch you will drive back to the hotel
